A Blue Christmas...

I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. ~Charles Dickens

Though Christmas is a joyous time to most, we must take pause to be grateful for the many blessings that have been bestowed upon us whilst simultaneously remembering the less fortunate, the homeless and the oppressed. Civilized societies have made significant strides in technology, which has improved our lives and lifestyle tremendously, but we as humans still live in the dark ages when it comes to respecting and embracing persons who are different from us. We don't have to look too far for such examples as our current affairs provide the best illustration.

This year as we sip that eggnog, drink that rum punch or bite into our oven baked turkey or ham, let us also take a moment of silence to quietly pray for less strife and more understanding in our respective communities. Let us pray for improved relations between all citizens, especially those who have sworn to protect us. Let us pray for wisdom, knowledge and understanding to combat illiteracy and poverty, which I consider to be the root of iniquity. Let us pray for equality and justice for all human beings, because it is folly, probably even downright unconscionable to say Merry Christmas to unhappy souls.

We all are one so in fact we are only partially happy until the whole is happy. For those of us that have lost loved ones, may the loving hearts of your friends and family give you warmth. To those celebrating life and better... Bringing forth new life; through your head back, inhale long and hard and relish the moment. Enjoy your Christmas my friends.

Continue to spread “Love”, continue to provide the “Light” They’re the two primary ingredients for the well-being of human beings. ~ SO Murray
