Trumpet Awards Highlights

This weekend I had the distinguished privilege of being invited to the 2015 Trumpet Awards by Mark Cameron and his wonderful wife Marie McKenzie, Vice-President of Global Financial Planning and Analysis for Carnival Corporation & PLC. From the limo ride to the red carpet, the awards show and dinner and after party, the evening the was chocked full of non-stop laughter, entertainment and pleasant surprises.

There wasn't a shortage of celebrities foreign and local and the funniest part of the evening for me was when we pulled up to the red carpet in the stretch limo provided by the hotel, (because we missed the shuttle) we were surrounded by dozens of Paparazzi snapping away until they saw my camera and I guess no one they could really recognize as a celebrity. A dejected photographer then blurted out, "Oh this must be the Press" and walked away. I was laughing internally. We have to give a shout out to Maria Newbie of the Hyatt Regency who absolutely took great care of us and made sure we had the best transportation to the event. When I first complimented her on her beautiful red gown, she promptly raised it to her knee to show me the bedroom slippers she was wearing. She however beckoned to me as I was leaving to show off her shoe upgrade in the photo gallery above. She was a warm and delightful hostess and was quite representative of the hospitality we received all day long at the hotel.

It was an absolute pleasure meeting and dining with this illustrious, charismatic and inspiring C.E.O along with his effervescent personnel. His brief "Thank You" speech was riveting and thought provoking and after fluently rattling off dismal statistics to reinforce his point, he challenged his peers and others in his community to step up to the plate to start scoring more much needed home runs for the team. Nevertheless, before he was all done, he made sure to point out that he likes to have fun; something I plan on doing again on my next Carnival cruise.
