Born in Jamaica in the year 1981 to parents Iva and Vincent Hunter in little district called Lewis Store my childhood years are filled with fond memories. I began school at an early age since my mother was a teacher at Highgate Hall Age Primary in Highgate, St. Mary and I was drawn to music as my dad had a small sound system that would fill the air with Bob Marleys albums every Sunday evening after church. Successfully passing my Common Entrance Examination in 1992 I moved on to St. Mary High School then subsequently to Marymount Business College and pursued additional Business Courses. Read More...
Lady in the Dark
There is a lady standing near the alley
she sways her hips from side to side
She hopes to make life better for herself and her three fatherless children
She does not seek to take away or tear down what was sealed with vows
She just attracts and entices others to enjoy her pleasure
She takes her time and weaves her web
She is known by many, it is no secret
This is how she lives
She loves no one
She trusts no one
It's not for love or vanity
It's just her reality
Jobless and hopeless she sees no other way out
She stands in the dim light of the light post
Counts her money while adding up the existing bills
She is bitter, lost all her humility
She smiles only when she is at work
She laughs only when it's a good day
Her tears are hidden behind her mask
Her lipstick bright and inviting
Her skin is revealed for all to see
Rarely covered, nothing left for the imagination
Sunrise.... she makes her way home
She stops at the corner shop purchasing items for breakfast
She hurries home before the kids are awake
“Hurry up and eat or you will be late again”
She shouts at the youngest child.
And as she rests her head upon the one bed they share
She watches her children as they run off to school
Her tired eyes slowly closes as she eases into her rest
Come the dark, she will have to do it all over again.
