Born in Jamaica in the year 1981 to parents Iva and Vincent Hunter in little district called Lewis Store my childhood years are filled with fond memories. I began school at an early age since my mother was a teacher at Highgate Hall Age Primary in Highgate, St. Mary and I was drawn to music as my dad had a small sound system that would fill the air with Bob Marleys albums every Sunday evening after church. Successfully passing my Common Entrance Examination in 1992 I moved on to St. Mary High School then subsequently to Marymount Business College and pursued additional Business Courses. Read More...

Life In A One Pound Cake

I woke up one Sunday morning feeling like I wanted to bake a one pound cake xmas. WHY? No  real inspiring reason, I just felt like I needed to.  Nope, I am not good at baking (don’t tell anyone, our secret) but I sure know how to mix things together in a big bowl.  My thoughts…..If I can cook well I can bake well. Besides I am a pro at this since I have seen others do this many times.

Okay let me see,

alittle flour

some  eggs

aww a pinch of salt

oh some margarine

raisins ( I love raisins)

alittle sugar

and I began to stir singing and dancing to my own tune in my head.

This batter didn’t look right at all… Something must have gone wrong. Sitting around the dining room table with my head resting on the back of the chair I had a thought and I began to laugh at myself.

How many of us approach life like how I just approached that one pound cake? Think about it and let’s recap. I have seen and assisted in the baking of cakes and thought I knew enough to whip up one from knowledge. I thought, if others can do it so can i. Did I stop to think how hard they worked on learning the correct  method to baking a Xmas cake? Did I even consider that my focus attaining the end result clouded my judgment and made me unrealistic in my approach to getting to the final product?   I didn’t plan for it yet I didn’t even take a few seconds to Google a recipe with instructions to guide me. I just wanted to get the same results others did without the hard work they did by just mixing around ingredients and throwing it in the oven.

NOPE not going to work!

So in life we often fall victims to this approach and it happens at times without our knowledge until the end results are not what we expected then we realize where we went wrong. We need to ensure that we have enough knowledge about what we plan to do and ensure that we get all the ingredients right with the correct measurement in order to ensure that we did everything that we could do in our powers to make it happen.  When in doubt seek clarity.

Now lets bake ourselves  a  NINE  (9)pound cake and please share it with everyone you meet.

INGREDIENTS :

  • 6 ounces or 1.5 cup TRUTH

  • 8 ounces HAPPINESS

  • 8 ounces INTEGRITY

  • 4 HANDSHAKES

  • 1 pound FORGIVNESS

  • 1 teaspoon AMBITION

  • 1/2 teaspoon THOUGHFULNESS

  • 1/2 teaspoon HOPE

It is good to know your own strengths and weaknesses so you can know which areas of your life needs improvement and love it, love your weaknesses. You will never be good at EVERYTHING YOU DO, there will always be someone better than you are but that doesn't mean you are not to enjoy being you. Does it?

Now i need baking lessons...(covers face) NOW HAPPY BAKING……WALK GOOD.

PS.. I wont be baking this XMAS I will be ordering my cake so don’t worry if I offer you a piece of cake hahaha
