Born in Jamaica in the year 1981 to parents Iva and Vincent Hunter in little district called Lewis Store my childhood years are filled with fond memories. I began school at an early age since my mother was a teacher at Highgate Hall Age Primary in Highgate, St. Mary and I was drawn to music as my dad had a small sound system that would fill the air with Bob Marleys albums every Sunday evening after church. Successfully passing my Common Entrance Examination in 1992 I moved on to St. Mary High School then subsequently to Marymount Business College and pursued additional Business Courses. Read More...
Develop the Right Attitude That Will Help You to GROW Daily
A few years ago i despised Monday mornings. I just hated the fact that the weekend was over and in my mind Monday showed up too quickly. Sunday nights were a torture and i often went to bed feeling low in spirit. Overtime i realized that this attitude also affected my entire family. My children were displaying the same attitude i had and it was hard to get them out of bed and ready to leave the house on time. We all dragged ourselves around the house and often times when i pulled out the drive way someone left a lunch bag on the table a book or something had to be fetched from the house because of our lack of preparation.
When I arrived at work I wasn't ready to commence. I either got there on the brink of time or late. My makeup wasn't done, my clothes was a bit off a few times and my energy was very low. During the day i had to find a way to just push through and I watched the clock for 5pm to arrive. I was stagnant and wasn't achieving much. The quality of my work was satisfactory and once i kept it there i was okay. I looked forward to Fridays.
Then one Saturday morning i began to reflect on my personal growth and i began the process of change. If i continued on this path i will never reach my full potential. What kind of example was i setting for myself and my children. This happens over time if you are not careful. You begin to slack up a bit here and there and before you know it you are being flung about by life and barely holding on to what is happening around you. I began to replace positive energy where i once exhibited negative energy. Instead of getting up on a Monday morning uncertain of what to wear to work i prepared my outfits in advance for the entire week down to my shoes. I involved the children in the same process and all they needed to be prepped was done from Sunday evening.
After the first week we were on a roll. Mondays became our best day of the week. We saw it as the first day out of five to do great things together to learn something new and most of all we were grateful for the life we had. The quality of my work drastically improved from satisfactory to Exceptional, I not only showed up for work on time but i was ready to begin as i got there. I had coworkers constantly asking me how do i maintain such a high energy throughout the week. Except for illness i was always at work and often times cut my lunch break and got right back at work as soon as i completed my lunch.
Four years later January 19, 2015
This morning as i rose from my bed i smiled. I wanted to share this wonderful experience with you. Monday is not a day to hate but a day to embrace. You know its coming so prepare for it and use it as an opportunity to make another great week of wonderful memories as you work towards your goals. This simple change impacted my entire life and my outlook has already made me a success. You have written your goals for 2015 and the only way you will get it done is by embracing each day and seizing the opportunity to make it happen. Make Mondays your new Friday
