Born in Jamaica in the year 1981 to parents Iva and Vincent Hunter in little district called Lewis Store my childhood years are filled with fond memories. I began school at an early age since my mother was a teacher at Highgate Hall Age Primary in Highgate, St. Mary and I was drawn to music as my dad had a small sound system that would fill the air with Bob Marleys albums every Sunday evening after church. Successfully passing my Common Entrance Examination in 1992 I moved on to St. Mary High School then subsequently to Marymount Business College and pursued additional Business Courses. Read More...

The Warning of a Blizzard in The Movie

As a child I never cared much for watching television. Thinking about this weird attitude maybe watching the stripes on the television while waiting for it to sign on (come on air) back in the 80’s contributed to my lack of interest. Don’t get me wrong I did watch the television but not for long as I got bored and fell asleep.

The Warning of a Blizzard in The Movie

Now an adult, I listen to the television just as I do the radio. This habit also was a result of listening to movies on the radio that kept my attention and allowed me to explore my imagination since there were no visuals. Over the years I chose carefully the movies I watched. I kept a safe distance from horror movies and disliked any action movie that had too much violence; therefore I stuck to adventure, comedy and documentaries. At times when I sat and watched an entire movie that surrounded a natural disaster I would watch keenly and was often heard grumbling “ This must be a sneek peek into the future as I bet you any money this will end up happening one day, just watch”. These movies made me think " What if this was suppose to happen, what would I do?. How would i survive?

When I heard of the blizzard heading to New York I immediately thought of the movie “The Day After Tomorrow”. The Day After Tomorrow was directed by Roland Emmerich. It had my heart rate up and as scared as i was i was excited to see what will happen next, therefore throughout the movies it kept my interest. The suspense was well executed and the special effects were too real not to find the movie believable at some points which made me worry as it felt as if this could really happen in real life.

What a movie huh? I do hope and pray that nothing that happened in the movie will take place in reality and that everyone will be safe during its passing. I pray those who will be affected will be adequately prepared to keep warm.

Lucky I am to be out of arms way of this blizzard. The sun is shining out side and everyday is a beach day in Jamaica.
